Kate Reid Cinematographer

Having spent most of her younger years painting and drawing, Kate discovered her love of creating photographic images during a year spent studying film and photography at the University of California. Several years on, having studied at the UK's prestigious National Film and Television School, Kate now works a cinematographer shooting fiction, documentary, music videos and commercials in the UK and around the world.  Her work has been screened in international festivals including Berlin, Clermont-Ferrand and Sao Paulo, and broadcast on national television to critical acclaim. In 2009 she was selected to participate in the Berlinale Talent Campus and completed her first feature film.

Kate gained her masters in Cinematography in 2007 from the National Film and Television School, where she shot a diverse range of projects learning her craft under the tutorage of Brian Tufano BSC, Stuart Harris, Sean Bobbitt BSC and Billy Williams BSC. Prior to attending the NFTS, Kate worked as a camera assistant in the UK film industry primarily working on feature films (Batman Begins, The Brothers Grim, Thunderbirds, Sky Captain and The World of Tomorrow) as well as documentary and television drama.

 

Kate has recently finished shooting 2nd Unit / B cam on Pathe's feature 'Africa United' directed by Debs Gardner Paterson, with Sean Bobbitt BSC as main unit Dp. This will be released in the autumn.
